Commencing end of May 2026

GRCC’s Helpline telephone service is often the first point of contact for individuals seeking to engage with the centre. On any given day, Helpline staff may field calls from concerned individuals seeking support or advice for themselves or a loved one, professionals wishing to make a referral or seeking practical advice, or any member of the public who might wish to talk about issues relating to sexual violence. Helpline staff may offer ongoing telephone support to current or previous clients, or field enquiries about our accompaniment services.

NAME OF EMPLOYER      Galway Rape Crisis Centre

NO OF HOURS                          Three days per week, 22.5 hours

LOCATION:                               G.R.C.C, Galway City

REPORTING TO:                      Clinical Director

 

Galway Rape Crisis Centre was established in 1984 and is now the country’s second largest Rape Crisis Centre. GRCC is dedicated to providing a professional, caring and confidential counselling and support service for those in our community affected by sexual abuse and sexual violence. We also work towards ending cultural and societal tolerance of sexual violence through advocacy, prevention and education programmes. G.R.C.C. provides client-centred therapy to adults and young people from 14 years onwards of all genders and gender identities. We offer support to individuals who have experienced any form of sexual violence, including child sexual abuse.

G.R.C.C. is seeking to hire a psychotherapist to join our clinical department to provide psychotherapy to adult and adolescent victims of sexual violence.

3 full days per week across Monday to Saturday.

Volunteer Become Part Of The Psychological Support Team

Our team of Psychological Supports provide much needed advocacy and psychological support to survivors in the aftermath of a sexual assault or rape.

This is a 24/7 call out service provided by Galway Rape Crisis Centre within the Galway Sexual Assault Treatment Unit.

As a Psychological Support Team member you will be on call 3 times per month and commit to a minimum of 2-year service.

Please note that the role of the Psychological Supporter is NOT a counselling role, but one of providing crucial advocacy and psychological support.

This service would not exist without the incredible Volunteers that give so freely of their valuable time.
